Deadly Deceivers

n 2 Peter, chapter 2, the apostle identifies and exposes the false teachings that were infiltrating the churches. Motivated by sensuality and material greed, these teachers initially embodied all the marks of a true disciple of Jesus. But their lives betrayed the fact that their nature had not changed. They were corrupt and driven by base desires like unreasoning animals. Peter exposes their deceit and assures his readers that the false teachers will, themselves, be subject to the very doctrines they deny. They will experience the final judgment of God. In this message, Pastor Ben identifies modern equivalents of the false teachers. We are further urged to examine our own lives, values, and affections to ensure that we have truly been reborn in Christ and partake of the divine nature.
