The second half of Luke 4 relates the beginning of Jesus' Spirit-empowered public ministry. Returning to his hometown of Nazareth, Jesus reads a passage from Isaiah 61 that heralds the beginning of the Messianic age of liberty, healing, and restoration. Jesus then shocks the synagogue by declaring that the fulfillment of that prophecy is staring them in the face. In this message, Pastor Ben invites us to celebrate the dawning of the Spirit-driven Messianic age. But along the way, we will consider obstacles to the reception and celebration of the liberation Jesus came to give us.
