The Glory that Sustains Us: Kid's Devotional
5-Day Bible Reading Plan and Devotional Guide
Based on Luke 9: Following Jesus Every Day
Day 1: Choosing Jesus Every Day
Reading: Luke 9:21-27
Devotional: Jesus did not come to win an earthly game or be a regular king. He came to rescue us from our sins and bring us back to God. The amazing secret of God's family is that true life starts when we put Jesus first in everything we do. Carrying your cross means letting Jesus be the boss of your whole life, whether you are at school, playing with friends, or at home with your family. He is the best leader you could ever have. Give your heart completely to Him today.
Day 2: Following Jesus Right Now
Reading: Luke 9:25-27; Isaiah 55:6-7
Devotional: God's kingdom is real, and the best time to choose Jesus is right now! Waiting around is never a good idea when it comes to God. Jesus wants you to wake up to how much He loves you. If you feel like God is nudging your heart to follow Him today, do not be afraid. Jesus does not want to take away your fun; He wants to give you a wonderful, happy life that goes on forever.
Day 3: A Sneak Peek of God's Glory
Reading: Luke 9:28-36; 2 Peter 1:16-18
Devotional: Jesus took Peter, James, and John up a high mountain to show them His amazing, shining glory. He did this because He knew they would have hard days ahead, and He wanted to remind them how strong He really is. Sometimes God gives us special moments, like when we feel super close to Him during prayer or singing at church. These happy moments are like fuel in a race. They give us strength for the tough days when things get hard.
Day 4: God With Us
Reading: Luke 9:34-35; John 1:14; Exodus 40:34-35
Devotional: When a bright cloud covered the mountain and God's voice spoke, it showed that God kept His ancient promise to be with His people. God has always wanted to live close to us. Jesus is not just a great teacher from history. He is God in human skin! When we look at Jesus, we are looking at God's love and kindness right in front of us. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus today and never look away.
Day 5: Needing Jesus Every Day
Reading: Luke 9:37-45; John 15:4-5
Devotional: The helpers of Jesus had been given special power, but one day they tried to help a sick boy and found they could not do it on their own. Why? Because they forgot to rely on Jesus! Yesterday's wins do not mean we can coast today. We need Jesus every single hour of the day. Stay close to Him like a branch stays connected to a tree. Remember, God's power is the one that does amazing things, so always stay close to Him!
